Nigeria’s population is projected to surpass United States as the third largest country in the world by 2050. Our geometric rising population has come with new giants to conquer; national restructuring, economic hardship, decline of oil boom, unemployed youths, and insidious gender discrimination to mention a few. Most existing solutions have reached the limits of their impacts as the problems have remain unsolved but rather deepening because they have been approached with the same solutions of the past. In the words of Henry Ford, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses”
This initiative represents our formal adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – the UN’s agenda for people, planet and prosperity.
We believe that the international development agenda is sometimes narrowly construed as a matter for governments alone, but it is clear that effective implementation of the SDGs will require widespread support.
In our view, the government has made a swift and well-organised start. However, we have identified a number of areas that require attention to ensure a lasting long-term impact.
We have a vision of what could be possible for Nigeria, “where would women be, economically and socially, if women participated in the workforce and business in greater numbers than they do now and at levels that do justice to their true ability and potential?”
This inspiring conference will address these questions and much more.
This conference will assemble female and male leaders from corporate, entrepreneurial and government organizations from diverse disciplines to address the myths and assumptions that create barriers and how to create a culture that support women’s brilliance.
The conference will be chaired by Dr Oby Ezekwesili with the topic: “Challenging Traditional Leadership Path” She will provide insight on what role perception plays in a woman’s ability to lead.
